Quirky Collection

Many pieces are playful or exhibit some oddity.

LLama  This piece measures 9.5" x 11"  It is made with had-dyed fabrics.  I met this cutie on a llama trek I took this fall.  I felt she had to be immortalized in fabric.  I think it looks just like the original photo, don't you?

Orbits.  The orbs on this piece are cut from shear fabrics from a discontinued swatch book.  Each orb is hand beaded with thousands of seed beads.  When viewing the finished piece, I noticed a happy raccoon face peering out at me from the upper left orb.

Rust:  This is a close-up of my new piece entitled "Rust".  The fabric is hand-dyed and machine stiched.  It is embellished with a piece of palm wood and a hand crafted fiber bead. Finished piece is ~ 2'  square.

Trees   I have such fun making these little trees.  I embroider them on my sewing machine free-hand without a pattern.  I mat and frame them or add them to larger wall pieces.

New Side    I created this piece by completely covering a piece of home decor fabric with thread.  The effect is very painterly.  I then hand beaded a 3-dimentional coil to the surface.  Finished size ~ 1.5' x 2.5'

Aspirations     This large piece tells of one's ability to soar because they know who they are, who their ascestors are, and have a home base.  Contains a mirror, brass bells, hand beading, vintage butttons and lace, and ceramic ring.  When I added a painted hand print, a heart appeared in the palm.
